THE INTERNET FLOWER SHOW
TO BE JUDGED CHRISTMAS 2005
STARTING IN THE YEAR 2005
*********************
There must be many growers out there who never have the chance to show off their
well grown flowers.
Therefore Ken Stock has come up with what I think is novel way of giving you a chance to
show them off.
***********************
THE INTERNET FLOWER SHOW
Okay it’s just a bit of fun but one I hope catches on.
**********************
Obviously all this is possible with the aid of photographs
and the Internet. Those wishing to participate should send photographic entries
no late than the end of October, showing no more than the allotted number of
blooms in each class.
All photographs will be cropped, and resized to the same
dimensions, to show no favouritism.
All we need are good bloom photographs to
judge, there is no admission charge. It’s true, the better the photography, the
better it is to see the flowers, but it works both ways, faults will show up on
good photography, and bad photography will not show up good blooms.
They can be
sent on CD's or as prints either will suffice as long as the senders name is
attached.
The judges shall be National Dahlia Society judges, who have an
interest in computing, and the Internet, and represent all areas of the British
Isles.
All will receive a CD with photographs of the exhibits on, and as soon as
they’ve decided on their winners, they will notify me by letter, or email. Every
photographic exhibit should have the name of the exhibitor, and the name of the
variety attached.
In the case of seedlings this is optional, but they should
have a number, or something to distinguish them by.
Each entry should be sent in
the year that the photograph was taken, as we have no way of verifying this, we
rely on your honesty.
The names of the exhibitors will be kept secret, until
after the results have been sent in.
Winners will be displayed on this site over
the Christmas period.
As for prizes, all first prize winners will receive a
small packet of my current years, hand crossed seed, don’t get to excited there
won’t be many seeds in the packet, but there might be a world beater.
The best
in show, will receive in the following spring, three rooted cuttings of one of
my previous years seedlings that had shown promise.
Should the best in show be
to far round the world to receive cuttings, a single tubers with eyes will be
sent in their place.
If there is a low turn out, obviously the show will be
terminated. I hope a few of you will enter, and even if you show in the more
conventional way, I hope you’re not too proud to join us in, what is just a bit
of fun.
So come on see if we can make this first Internet Dahlia
Show a success.
